presented at ‘loose thread’, OKAYstudio‘s exhibition during london design festival 2013,  the ‘smartlight’ concept by shay alkalay & yael mer of london-based raw edges studio combines the functionality of smart-phones, a bedside table light and users everyday habits. it responds to how we charge our mobile phones on our night tables, plugging in just before bed time. by utilizing the smartphone’s built-in LED flashlight, the series of ready-made charging docks are quickly transformed into a table lamps – each built using different commonly found materials. the collection features five various approaches: sling, suction cup, rocking, rubber shade and art deco army flash light.

  • Nice idea, BUT:

The LED is build to use as a Torchlight or Photoflash
And the most Torchapps got a *Auto off after 2 Minutes* safety switch.

So if you don’t want to:
    a) Burn your LED over the time or
    b) turn the light on again every 3 min
Just use a common LED light if you want.

    Best Regards
