seoul-based design and architecture studio SML reveals ‘flowing’, a new furniture series presenting a chair and a table. the pink-and-black pieces resemble hand-drawn doodles, while their curved corners — as the designer explains —  are inspired by the flow of a waterfall.

the legs of SML’s furniture are formed by continuous steel lines painted in black on the outside and pink on the inside, which makes the pieces look like they are drawn on a piece of paper. despite the simple nature of the furniture’s graphic design, different view angles reveal elegant architectural shapes, such as arches supporting the structures or the smooth geometric figures of the tabletop and chairback, introducing more strictness into the playful design.

SML studio specializes in the design of different fields — from furniture to art installations and large-scale architecture. a colorful and futuristic touch is present in most of the architects’ projects, for example, the lime-green suite recently featured on designboom.
