sonic wire sculptor

sonic wire sculptor is a project by digital designer amit pitaru that transforms the ipad and iphone into digital musical instruments. the applications takes advantage of the two device’s interaction capabilities, using sound multi-touch input. the program transforms the user’s three-dimensional drawings into sounds. users simply move their fingers around the screen, creating random lines and watching as they produce different sounds. while it requires no musical experience, musicians can interface in ways they couldn’t with other instruments.  while the iphone version is quite basic, the newly launched ipad version has the ability to load a variety of samples, adding more flexibility to the application.

  • nice soundscapes. i like the first one best.
the thing at ~8 mins is very annoying… dont like that the painter doesnt really react to the sounds produced.
and i see no need for text or materialistic imagery.

  • well my dad never buys apps or swears but hes having a very good time on his ipad right now ”best app ever” has just come out of his mouth haha ”isnt that beautiful” he bought the app before he knew it made sound.
