soren rose studio: gymnasium collection

‘gymnasium’ cabinet

drawing from memories of highschool gym classes, the ‘gymnasium collection’ from danish søren rose studio consists of cabinets recycled from gym floorboards. this collection crafted by denmark’s oldest cabinet makers bruno hansen carpentry uses the graphic lines and simple silhouettes borrowed from the interiors of gym courts. this series uses sustainable, eco-friendly material like renewable pine and controlled danish oak with water-based fixatives and varnishes.

‘paper’ table,

‘paper’, a simple table design made of aluminum, folded to gain structural strength. ideally used as a small console table for the private home or hotel rooms, the fact that it is made from aluminum also makes it possible to anodize it in a wide range of colors.

‘rainbow’ cabinet

‘rainbow’, a cabinet made with curved fronts in white corian draws its form from the DNA structure of reflect Cph, a three dimensional liquid composition, which evolves through a mathematical calculation. the 4 corners of each front has a unique thickness giving the drawer curves that reflect light. its multicolored feet take their cue from the colors of the rainbow.
