sotheby’s paris curates the first retrospective exhibition of gaetano pesce that france has seen in 15 years. supported and presented in association with B&B italia, the show offers a survey of the architect’s influential career which has spanned a majority of the second half of the 20th century (1969 onwards). curated by basia embiricos who was responsible for organizing a show of pesce’s resin jewellery in december 2012, this sotheby’s presentation highlights the diversity of the italian designer’s research and experimentation by offering a heterogenous overview of his works noting various phases of the creative process — from drawings and maquettes, to full-scale models pieces, to his most famous productions, accompanied by personal video interviews — giving further insight into the his theories. the curious selection of objects express pesce’s exploitation of new materials, colors and forms, and evidence his contribution to the development of italian design as we know it.
