the cassina stand at the 2014 salone del mobile offers an indoor sensorial natural habitat, with a ‘floating forest’ designed by sou fujimoto. setting the stage for the italian company’s 2014 collection which includes designs by: jaime hayon, piero lissoni, luca nichetto, patrick norguet and jean nouvel; alongside re-editions from le corbusier, pierre jeanneret, charlotte perriand and marcel breuer, the installation creates a balance between man, nature, comfort and the home.

the japanese architect has envisioned a suspended woodland, with trees planted inside mirrored boxes that hang from the ceiling, reflecting and projecting what is typically associated with the external landscape, indoors. setting the ideal backdrop for cassina’s products, ‘floating forest’ emphasizes the clear association between the brand and its relationship with the outside world, while at the same time recalling its long held heritage in carpentry workmanship.

sou fujimoto has rediscovered cassina’s natural origins, eliminating walls and ceilings, and replacing them with weightless trees that envision a future in a home environment where design and innovation are intensified by a natural setting.
