steven haulenbeek: lighting installation at designboom mart ICFF 2010

we are just back from new york design week 2010, where we held our sixth designboom mart at the ICFF. this year, chicago-based designer steven haulenbeek, was responsible for the lighting installation which illuminated our mart space.

fitting in nicely with the ‘umbrella icon’ which symbolizes our designboom marts, haulenbeek’s ‘cumulus light canopy’ concept utilized photographer’s translucent shoot-through umbrellas as modular components, forming a scalable light system. the arrangement of these umbrellas, hung upside down created ten cloud-like forms throughout our mart space.
