india-based designer sneha jajoo introduces this simple and super-sustainable stool constructed using an old cob technique. looking like mud-covered anthills, the stool is made of clay, sand, and organic waste like spent agricultural fibers and cane. the unique piece of furniture is reborn through the earth, hence its name ‘mrittika’ that means ‘earth born’.this stool made of clay, sand and organic waste is reborn through the earthall images courtesy of beardclausvisuals

using easily available materials like cob and varnish, sneha jajoo created a visually offbeat but pleasing piece. the project idea took place from transforming an object that is readily available and then adding materials to it. furthermore, the structure is covered with cob providing it with playful and experimental anatomy.this stool made of clay, sand and organic waste is reborn through the earth

the texture of the surface provides a unique visual of small pieces of hay and the smoothness of clay. the stool creates its optical rhythm of arched earth to strong criss-cross cane, creating its poetic intensity. if it breaks or you get bored of them, you can just wet the material and reuse it to sculpt new furniture.this stool made of clay, sand and organic waste is reborn through the earth

the object can be produced anywhere with local earth and agricultural residue, while it requires zero energy, creates no pollution, and is fully renewable and compostable. the stool by sneha jajoo is developed using an ancient cob-making process that combines indigenous knowledge and contemporary production method. at the end of their lifecycle, the objects can be either re-molded by the user or simply returned to earth. the dark brown object made from earth extracted clay, sand, and rice straws creates a unique and rare natural sense and scent to every room.this stool made of clay, sand and organic waste is reborn through the earth
