a family fun center in northwest indiana has created a stranger things-themed corn maze. the 20-acre maze pays tribute to the series ahead of netflix releasing the trailer for the third instalment last week. fans of the show will understand how fitting a tribute this is as stranger things is set in the fictional town of hawkins, indiana.

the maze is made up of recognisable motifs including the predatory and terrifying demogorgan in the bottom left, chasing the gang who are, as expected, riding their bicycles to safety. at the centre is the series’ heroine, eleven, who appears to be in the middle of a telekinetic performance. above her is the mind flayer, a malevolent entity that inhabits the upside down world, the alternate dimension and major anchor to the show’s narrative.

the maze has been created by exploration acres, home to the largest corn maze in northwest indiana. the maze sprawls across 20 acrea, equivalent to about 15 football fields and the available paths total over 10 miles in length. the site will open for the 2018 season on september 14 and will remain open until october 28 with tickets available to buy for anyone who plans to be in the indiana area this summer.

‘after binge-watching the entire stranger things series last year, I knew we had a unique opportunity to create an immersive environment for fans at our farm,’ said tim fitzgerald, president and CEO of exploration acres, told WTHR. this year, new technology allowed us to plant the maze design like an inkjet printer, dropping seeds into the precise design we imagined.’
