the ‘slims’ collection by tel-aviv-based studio beam includes five light fixtures, comprising a contemporary translation to the nostalgic industrial language. each piece is crafted in metal by using laser cut technology and silver soldered by hand. the series was born after a long period of designing objects that induce heaviness around them. according to the designers, they had an urge to ‘purify matter and feelings into a minimalist experience.’ driven by this agenda, they took objects designed in centuries past and turned their solid shapes into combinations of wire contour bone structures. the results let light disperse in every direction while making direct references to their ancestors.
