‘bench mould shelves’ by studio glithero

following their projects ‘running mould bench‘ and ‘bench mould furniture‘, the london-based anglo-dutch duo of studio glithero (sarah van gameren and tim simpson) continue their exploration of the running plaster cornice with their latest design ‘bench mould shelves’. the set of eight poly-concrete, wall-mounted, black shelves are each built up from layers of plaster in which a 2D profile cut is made through the material resulting in crisp extrusions and lines.

traditionally used to create decorative elements, studio glithero has adapted the technique to develop functional products with details that reveal the animation process and traces of the material transformation. each piece is made from poly-plaster and finished with a satin wax polish.
