studio HHID introduces furniture set inspired by vegetal graphics

art and design studio HHID presents its KNTR collection – an outdoor furniture set inspired by vegetal graphics. the collection features a stool, low chair, and coffee table, all made from steel and wooden rods.‘unified in a linear yet soft form of language, the pieces integrate themselves naturally in a residential outdoor environment,’ reveals the studio.

using different ‘line weights’ to emphasize graphical character

the HHID team built the stool and low chair from steel rods, which are bent to shape and welded. the integrated poles come in two different thicknesses; the larger ones make up the silhouette while the thinner ones create the seating surface. according to the designers, ‘the use of primary and secondary line weights allowed for a graphical hierarchy, while making the pieces strong and light.’ a uniform and textured powder coat is then applied over each furniture piece to celebrate the KNTR collection’s graphical character.

creating soft and controlled surfaces

furthermore, the stool’s low backrest functions as a handle that contributes to its approachable appearance while emphasizing a mobile nature and allowing for effortless stacking. the coffee table, meanwhile, is made from coated maple wood panels laminated with a PU-textile. this choice of assembly provides a vertical structure while allowing the tabletop to fold naturally over the base. ‘informed by shapes in nature, the seats and the table share soft yet controlled surfaces created through linear materials,’ concludes HHID.
