‘metamorphosis’

‘metamorphosis’ is a series of three dolls from the famous folk tale ‘little red riding hood’. created by israeli product design studio studio kahn. the dolls are made of ceramic and silicon using a molding technology. in doing so, the project is also an exploration on combining an old material with a long history, in this case ceramic, with the more modern resource of silicone.

swallowing and masquerading are two main motifs in the story of ‘little red riding hood’ that keep the characters changing their identity. similarly, the three dolls can be swallowed, folded, and turned inside out which help to bring out the themes of identity and usability of the figures.
