for their latest work, studio PESI has combined a typical shelving unit with a pet house to form ‘GROUND FLOOR’. the seoul-based designers conceived of the project after considering that, according to research, one-person households are on the rise, and to overcome loneliness, people are turning to pets for company. with this in mind, studio PESI has created the compact and multi-purpose furniture piece to save precious space while also providing the perfect haven for furry friends.

to create the final design, studio PESI made the lowest partition into the shape of a traditional pitched roof to express the strong metaphor that the furniture is indeed a house for the pets; which also gave the name ‘GROUND FLOOR’. like most shelving units, the height of the roof can be adjusted and additional dividers can be added or removed.
