showing that the concept of green building is applicable at even the scale of our canine friends, studio schicketanz’s doggy dreamhouse is more than just a shelter. the continuous green carpet encourages pups to interact with the house, as they can climb up to their rooftop and hangout where an automated faucet provides the kennel with water and green roof irrigation.

studio schicketanz’s commitment to user-friendly, environmentally-conscious design is showcased in all of its work, including the smallest of scales. the fully functional green roof of the dog house slopes up from the ground, which exemplifies the studio’s ‘designing for the context’ philosophy while providing another area for the pet’s relaxation. from the motion-activated rooftop faucet for drink and green roof irrigation, to the solar-powered fan for efficient cooling, the house is packed with sustainable and tech-forward amenities.

considering ease-of-use for dog owners, the front wall swings open revealing a drain built into the floor for easy cleanup. a drawer was also added to offer storage for toys, treats, and other various knick-knacks, is placed under the green pathway to the roof.

  • A ‘roof for a whoof’ is a good idea. Dogs also appreciate a view.
