seating for eating is a new range of wooden furniture designed by studioilse in collaboration with de la espada, which will be premiered during london design festival. it will be on show at leila’s shop, 17 calvert avenue, E2 from september 23rd to november 1st. the collection is influenced by english vernacular furniture, with their high backs for comfort and privacy – without being closed off from the room which they occupy. seating for eating is open and intimate at the same time. each piece has been handcrafted by de la espada in solid chestnut with cuts specially chosen with knots. the pieces are finished in natural oiled wood or painted in a white eggshell finish. the family of seating is comprised of two settles, three benches and two stools, all furniture you can sit on together, but which still leaves room for individuals.
