StudioKnob’s dynamic window display frames shoes as art pieces

StudioKnob’s design for Shoofra’s window display utilizes the interaction of light and shadow to create a calming, tranquil atmosphere. This dynamic arrangement frames the shoes as art pieces, floating in illuminated glowy pools and enhancing their visual appeal.

The design explores the impact of light on perception, emphasizing its ability to reveal intricate details and influence emotion. By centering the theme on light and shadow, the display aims to evoke a sense of fluidity and calmness. Spanning eight meters wide and four meters high with a depth of 70 cm, the design is minimalist yet impactful.

Shoofra’s window display is divided into three brightly lit zones

StudioKnob‘s window display is divided into three horizontal zones. The Upper Zone is brightly lit, creating vibrant reflections and drawing attention to the space. The Lower Zone sets up a Mylar sheet which introduces contrast, separating light from shadow and featuring two mythical creatures for an element of fantasy. Finally, the Display Zone features six internally illuminated cylinders, providing a view inside. Warm lighting contrasts with cooler overhead lights, while Mylar edges enhance the effect, giving the appearance of shoes floating in light. The cylinders support the Mylar sheets, draping them in natural curves reminiscent of Gaudí’s architectural style.

Mirror circles affixed to the glass create reflections and incorporate the external environment into the composition. Above each light pool, lines from Rachel Halfi’s poem ‘There is a time when everything sits inside the light’ add depth and engage viewers on a contemplative level.
