the mink is made up of a tough, overbuilt steel chassis atop 15-in alloy wheels cushioned by a leaf-spring suspension. it measures 8.9 feet (270 cm) in length, stands about a foot (30 cm) over the ground below and weighs in around 1,100-lb (500-kg).
what makes the mink so ready for the harshest of winters is its builtin features. the mink cabin comes equipped with a thermostat-controlled webasto heater. meanwhile, a large skylight panel offers views to the scenery above from a queen-size mattress. if nature’s offerings aren’t enough, an integrated wi-fi antenna and USB charging ports keep travellers connected while a portable bose soundlink revolve bluetooth speaker plays music inside or out. LED lighting is featured throughout, a roof-mounted solar panel keeps the battery charged for off-grid adventurers, and a GPS tracker offers a back-up, making the mink completely tech friendly.
other facilities include an illuminated ice chest in place of a portable fridge-freezers or removable icebox. this is located beneath the interiors countertop, with a wood cutting board serving as a lid. 3-liter canisters can be used for water storage in place of a built-in tank. other storage includes rear cabinetry and bins to keep tools, dishes and utensils at the ready. finally, a gas single-burner stove lets travellers cook before serving upon a set of table and chairs included for open-air dining.
the mink camper is available for purchase in iceland for €14,000 (approx. US$17,400). earlier in the year mink was planning on exploring european markets in the future. it now mentioned it will open operations in norway and scotland in 2019. for more about mink campers visit their website.
