inside this mercedes-benz camper van is a beach house on wheels

british conversion company ‘supertramped co.’ has transformed this mercedes-benz T2 into a portable beach house camper van. called ernie, the blue and white van has had its’ interiors completely removed and replaced by a surf-inspired beach hut interior.

the main living area features a bench seat with a table that sits across from the kitchen that comes complete with smev appliances and a thetford t1090 fridge & freezer. mirroring the exterior paintwork, blue and white backsplash tiles accent the farmhouse sink.

the sleeping areas are built into the rear of the vehicle and feature under-bed storage. meanwhile, the bathroom includes a toilet and shower with exposed piping, white subway-tile-inspired wallboards and a skylight, which makes the whole thing feel bright and airy.

the camper has WIFI installed and is decked out in various smart home technologies including an alexa smart assistant, voice-activated lighting and 6 ceiling mounted home cinema speakers. 400w solar panels provide off-the-grid power.

the T2 was manufactured by daimler-benz from 1967 to 1996 and has achieved cult status over the years, admired for its durable construction and maneuverability. various t2 versions were popular for a wide range of applications including being used as delivery vans, fire-brigade and rescue support vehicles.

the build took about 10 months to complete. based in somerset, supertramped co. is currently working on other conversions and taking bookings beginning next summer. conversions start from $24,600 and include materials, labor, and fees.
