the incorporation of LED bulbs optimizes energy consumption, while the ambiance provides a more natural and pleasant effect. the ‘urban star’ was originally introduced at the entrance of a beach near buren, on the island of ameland, where recent environmentally friendly upgrades such as the implementation of a soft green light rather than a harsh yellow glow has minimized impact on nocturnal bird-life and the day-night cycle of the local vegetation. a motion detector regulates the intensity according to the number of pedestrians and traffic at night, reducing the consequences of artificial light within the natural surroundings.
