the chair which took four years to design was influenced by the structure of plants. flat, branch-like ribs are asymmetrically intertwined on three levels to form the seat shell of 'vegetal', which is shaped as an irregular circle and supported by four legs.

ronan & erwan bouroullec presented their new ‘vegetal’ chair produced by vitra at designers’ saturday in langenthal. a large group of ‘vegetals’ were suspended from the ceiling in an installation intended to symbolise a tree like structure.
