sylvain willenz: shapes mirrors for HAY

belgium-based industrial designer sylvain willenz has developed ‘shapes’ for danish brand HAY. the family of floor standing or wall-mountable mirrors are simple and elementary in form to create a graphic collection of contrasting, elongated and stretched shapes. willenz is known to have a design approach that values the manufacturing and production process. as a result, he has composed the products with a single sheet of glass and MDF backboard creating a frameless and two toned reflective object that is traditionally contained within a border. the pieces are available in black, blue, grey, power peach and mint green. there is no conventional frame to these mirrors, only a sheet of glass (with a securing and protective backboard) and reflective colour treatments.
