since the time of the croatians, neckties have consisted of a continuous ribbon of a fabric to form loops and knots meant to secure the opening of collared shirts. as the first self-initiated project of detroit-based TAKD design, ‘the bowtie’ turns the very traditional menswear item into a contemporary design object. using solid timber, the items are handcrafted, sanded, and finished in-house using CNC routing and woodworking methods to ensure quality control. the patent-pending, geometry promises a unique look outside of all men’s accessories, reducing its predecessor’s pointed shape to a simplified rectilinear form featuring rounded sides on opposing short ends. providing diversity within the wardrobe, hand sewn straps are available in four distinct patterns that can go with any blazer, shirt, and pant combination.
