french fashion designer ted lapidus died on monday from leukaemia aged 79. known for pioneering the unisex look and safari suit in the 1960’s, he later branched out into accessories in the 1980’s. often referred to as ‘the poet of french couture’ his designs featured military epaulettes. his clothes were worn by many celebrities of the 60’s and 70’s including the beatles, jean seberg and brigitte bardot. today the lapidus label is run by his son olivier and lives on through sales of watches, sunglasses and fragrances.
