in the spirit of accessible manufacturing and open-source design, barbara busatta and dario buzzini of new york-based creative agency ICOSAEDRO have created ‘the machine series’, a collection of 3D printed stationery containers available for public download or on-demand production. all files have been developed to allow for easy modification, improvements, and adaptation to new materials, techniques and formal explorations. using additive manufacturing technologies, the series of basic tabletop accessories re-interprets the output of traditional fused deposition modeling (FDM) processes to reduce the final outcome into a refined minimal aesthetic.

as the ubiquitous FDM process usually ends up with amateur results, ‘the machine series’ proves to create items that are as simple as they are sophisticated and as elegant as they are innovative.
