every coffee expert knows that freshly crushed beans give the best flavor. pre-ground pieces quickly oxidize after opening, resulting in a stale taste, while fresh ones give users both freedom of choice and better aromas. therefore design believes that true aficionados like to control every aspect of their brew and its process. thus, they have created the ‘ROK coffee grinder‘ for pure, consistent particles.

the product requires less than have the amount of revolutions as the standard model, only taking approximately 30 seconds to create a double espresso. ‘in lab conditions we tested grounds from 4 grinders ranging up to $600 to check particle consistency. we used 4 laboratory grade filter screens from 1200 microns to 200 microns. the ROK grinder results matched the $600 grinder! it also blew away other handheld grinders,’ the agency reports.

adjusting the coffee grind
the interior mechanisms house a high-quality burr along with arms and a double-bearing shaft that maintain stability as the bevel gear system is turned with little noise. the fineness of the particles can be adjusted by turning a calibrated wheel, allowing the user the customize it to their preferences. these components are made of top grade metals and materials that have been manufactured to medical grade tolerances and hardened for longevity.
the project is currently looking for funding on indiegogo here.
