athens-based designer yiannis ghikas turns the world of serving wine tasting upside down with his brand new ‘torus’ — a fancy steel wine bucket. the piece is named this way for its creatively different handle subtly moulding the elegant shape of the bucket itself.

‘historically, serving has underlined social class difference but has also been the expression of respect, love, and care,’ explains ghikas. ‘today, it is more linked to the relationship between customer and waiter, an often-uneasy relationship at the expense of the latter. driven by this relationship the torus wine bucket was designed with the focus on the waiter in a symbolic effort to honor him, offering him a generous 360-degree handle.’
