tsuchiya kaban designs leather backpack for dogs so they can carry their own treats and toys
tsuchiya kaban’s leather backpack or randoseru for dogs also comes with adjustable nylon straps so the owners can carry the bag themselves when their furry pets get tired.
Letting dogs fashionably walk with leather backpack
Japanese brand Tsuchiya Kaban, which has been crafting leather accessories since 1965, produces leather backpacks for dogs so that furry pets can carry their own treats and toys on walks. The series also comes with straps, allowing owners to sling the leather backpack around their bodies once their dogs have grown weary of carrying their own treats and toys. The leather backpack for dogs will become available starting December 14th in limited quantity, and Tsuchiya Kaban is set to hold a pre-order sales event at its Shibuya store from November 1st.
The Tsuchiya Kaban ‘randoseru’, which can be translated as school backpacks or the bags students use in Japan, is made from tanned leather to match various fur colors and the owner’s clothing. The texture and shade of the tanned leather also deepen over time, as if it ages gracefully alongside the dog and the owner. The leather backpack for dogs is attached to an adjustable leather harness that helps the dog carry the bag on its back.

Tsuchiya Kaban uses nume leather for dog backpacks
Tsuchiya Kaban employs nylon for the material of the straps, both for the leather backpack and the harness. This choice provides comfort and reduces strain for the dogs and their owners, making it easier for the material to slide through the bag’s buckle when the owners adjust the straps. An available leash can also be included with the leather backpack, which the owner can simply clip onto the bag.
Tsuchiya Kaban turns to nume leather for the material of the backpack and harness, which is a cowhide with a rustic finish and is tanned using tannin. It is a ‘leather-like leather’ that retains its natural quality, feel, and expression. Tsuchiya Kaban says it may be initially hard, but it gradually softens and develops a glossy patina over time. Its rich texture and the material itself can last for many years if used and maintained with care (and if the dogs don’t bite it).
