tsuchiya kaban crafts a waterproof leather bag to carry a snowman around

in summer 2020, we unveiled a very peculiar bag created with the sole purpose of carrying a watermelon. manufactured by japanese leather and bag specialist tsuchiya kaban, the bag inaugurated a new series called the fun of carrying where individual artisans are given no limitations in order to design a bag that tells a story while carrying a specific object. the latest iteration of this project is an adorable winter bag perfect to hold a mini yukidaruma — snowpal in japanese.

dubbed the yukidaruma bag, this piece was conceived by artisan yuko matsuzawa who was inspired by the feeling that arises once the first snow of the year falls. the bag wants to capture, hold and share this moment with loved ones. to ensure durability, the bag has been crafted with waterproof leather and thermally-insulated polyester, which not only prevent water leakage, but also help your snowman to keep its shape without melting.
