conceived by architecture and design practice UUfie, the echo table series envision an elusive reality of nature where metal and wood become one. made of aluminum, copper, and brass, and featuring a contrasting gradient of color as a result, the collection was manufactured by matter of stuff + toscari and it was presented at spazio rossana orlandi during milan design week 2017.

the echo table series by UUfie is part of the studio’s ongoing design exploration of pushing the boundaries and altering the perception of materials. the pieces highlight that the beauty of wood lies in the stories it tells while metal’s attractiveness is expressed through its malleability. by using a technique of exposing the hardwood (winter season) and removing the softwood (summer season) to forge metal into each growth cycle, a new-found singular material is created. the lightness and thinner of the tabletop and legs further enhance the intangible appearance.

each table is made from a wood composite that tapers out on the edges and blends into the metal. the table tops are made in three different sizes and rest on slender legs that emphasize a slightly curved bottom and narrow section in the middle. the variations in the tabletops render shapes that are organic, allowing activity and motion around the table to be natural in any space.
