handmade from solid willow wood, ‘banca familiar (family bench)’ is a project by spanish designer valentin garal for mexican furniture company le porc shop. conceived for the ‘non-places’ often overlooked and forgotten, the bench has a built-in bird cage to create a lively environment for socialization. the object is meant to be visited frequently as the birds require care, converting underused public spaces into gathering points for meeting and discussion.
