vestre displays urban furniture on stand of low waste + reusable components in stockholm

vestre has presented its new products on a stand of low waste and reusable components, which granted the norwegian urban furniture manufacturer the best stand 2020 award at this year’s stockholm furniture fair. created by note design studio, the stand reflects the company’s work with sustainability, using elements such as blocks of brick, wood, and gravel, which are low waste and can be reused after. on display were some completely new products, as well as some new additions to existing series, all of which aimed at making sustainable, sociable meeting places for users around the world.vestre displays urban furniture on stand of low waste + reusable components in stockholmall images courtesy of vestre

designed by note design studio, the vestre booth at the stockholm furniture fair stood out for its low waste, reusable components. ‘this stand takes sustainability to a new level,’ noted the jury on its motivation for choosing it as best stand 2020. ‘not only can each element of the display be reused, what’s also compelling is that the brand has calculated the carbon footprint of every product.’ vestre displays urban furniture on stand of low waste + reusable components in stockholm

at the fair, vestre presented some completely new products, including a free-standing series to extend the folk collection by front design studio, which will allow more flexible arrangements of the furniture. the new benches and table both have similar forms to the original collection, and are made from hard-wearing materials that stand up to use around the clock in all types of weather and surroundings. this is reflected, for example, in the seat surface, which is divided up so that rain water drains off.

‘it is important for us as designers to include durability in the expression and form of a product,’ explain anna lindgren and sofia lagerkvist, founders of font. ‘it must be usable for many years, in different conditions, and always fit into its setting. it is exciting to think how many people will be using an item of outdoor furniture in a public place during its lifetime.’

other products on display include hong ngo-aandal and johan verde‘s code, which now has smart new planters to make them fresher and greener. the flexible system is designed to to allow andscape architects and building designers to create spaces for social activities in urban environments or close to nature, and consists of right-angled and angular boxes that can be combined horizontally and vertically in various formations. at the same time, the april go collection of outdoor furniture has been expanded with  a square table that invites conversation, and a new version of the classic bench – this time without a back. designed by espen voll, tore borgersen and michael olofsson, the series was specially developed to fit into urban spaces that undergo changes, and the individual pieces can be moved and adapted according to the circumstances.

last, this year vestre presented its latest collaboration with espen voll, tore borgersen and michael olofsson titled stones. the collection consists of three basic modules supplied in two different heights, which function as building blocks, so it is easy to adapt the furniture to different requirements. the idea is that different combinations will be inspiring for play, rest, and – above all – meetings between people. ‘with furniture in the stones collection the scene is set for greater freedom than with fixed, more traditional seating groups,’ say voll, borgersen and olofsson. ‘the expansive form of stones modules ensures that they can be combined to create seating that functions in large, architectural spaces.’
