vienna design week(s)

‘fabric lamps’ by johanna rickenbach. this lamp does away with the base, relying on the covered shade to provide the lamp with structure. a zip fly in the shade’s side allows the cord to escape.

the first annual vienna design week(s) closed on sunday after a successful two and a half weeks of design related events in the austrian capital. the event attracted over 10,000 visitors who came to see contemporary austrian design, as well as the guest exhibition ‘belle vue – young swiss design’, which will continue to be on show until november 11. the organizers are already beginning to plan next year’s event.

‘lebensblumentiere’ by sebastian menschhorn for nymphenburg. set of figurines from the nymphenburg collection decorated with intricate patterns.

‘fringerie’ by dottings design. unique lamp and shade inspired by tassels that can be used closed or cut open to reveal the hanging threads.

‘pachific minimal lounge’ by fries&zumbühl. this seat aims to connect eastern sitting style with the comfort demands of western culture in a single piece lounger.

‘chain’ carpet by adrien rovero. unique carpet created to mimic a massive piece of chain-links.

‘mutant edition pots’ by polka products. a collection of pots that combine the basic cookware elements into new and interesting combinations.

‘mutant edition vase & pot on feet’ by polka products. notice the handles on the base of the pot and on the vase.

‘oil vase’ by tété knecht. organically shaped vases with a textural and slippery looking finish.

‘wogg 42’ by jörg boner.  the use of a simple cushion transforms this minimal chair into a comfortable seat.
