vincenzo de cotiis shows at carpenters workshop gallery pieces that include a large silver-plated brass wall cabinet, a contorted neon-light chandelier in tubular brass, as well as two new wall lamps, a floor lamp, two side tables and a dining table. referencing the artistic movement of the beginning of the 20th century, a romantic spirit confronts an innovative realism in all the pieces. they all result from an influence that arises not as style restrictions bus as regenerative creations.

two themes circulate amongst the exhibition: pop — as rebellion against stereotypes and nouveau — the liberation from mechanized forms. vincenzo de cotiis applies it by creating transformative and organic pieces that surpass both time and beauty. the coffee tables, for example, resemble neo-romantic pools of water; the contorted metal light fixtures have been shaped like branches and the bases of the tables are rooted like stumps of trees.
