VOX’s winning interior for world class fitness club has a splash of style

russia-based architecture firm VOX have designed a modern image for the interior of world class, the russian fitness club. the concept was the winning entry for a competition the luxury fitness leader announced for a new image across all of its clubs.

with the design,VOX wanted to achieve the perfect balance between successfully offering purpose-built areas for activities such as yoga, pilates and martial arts, and creating an ideal focal point around the swimming pool. the architects chose three colours for their scheme: white, grey and red. guided by their symbolic meaning, white was chosen for its’ associations with air, grey with brutality and the earth, and red for it’s energetic connotations.

VOX hopes to have created a unique graphical language that emphasizes architectural forms and works on a seamless image. the decoration of the clubs uses expressive materials including facing slabs which imitate a concrete monolith.

traces of formwork and bright glass elements are highlighted with built-in light. elsewhere, light is determined by the absence of visible vertical downlights and rigidly-directed light sources creating light that in turn ranges from soft, diffuse and non-aggressive, to strong and bold, reflected from large volumes and planes.
