during milan design week, wallpaper* handmade X presented a series of one-off works co-created by bringing together designers, artists and architects, with the finest craftsmen, makers and manufacturers. marking its tenth edition, the anniversary exhibition at milan’s salone dei tessuti saw pieces such as elmgreen & dragset and georg jensen’s the bed, a futuristic pod that protects lovers from the digital interferences around them; germans ermičs and bang & olufsen’s circle of fifths, an interactive sound sculpture; and paul smith and mercian’s tandem bike.

‘ten years, 587 projects, 1,085 collaborators… wallpaper* handmade has curated and paired some of the finest creative talents and rising stars with the most outstanding makers and manufacturers,’ sarah douglas, wallpaper* editor-in-chief. ‘for this year’s love-themed exhibition we’ve produced our most imaginative collection of unique creations yet.’ the wide variety of objects presented at wallpaper* handmade’s anniversary edition varied from nick ross and antoine architectural finishes’ limestone-like archway, to the oddly shaped cutlery of studio word and architectural titanium. the full story of each handmade project, from first contact to finishing touches, will be told in the august issue of wallpaper*, out 11 july.
