proposing a different approach to a fair stand, venezia-based glass manufacturer wonderglass presents the ‘cabinet of curiosities’ installation at maison et objet 2018. divided into quadrants, the conceptual space fuses ethereal visual art with design luminaries by claesson koivisto rune, nao tamura, marcel wanders, dan yeffet and hideki yoshimoto.

framed against large backlit photographs captured in the italian dolomites, wonderglass’ lighting objects are contrasted with nature and human creations. brilliant smoke clouds of hot pink and azure blue evoke the union of dream and reality inside the transparent boxes. the layering of object and visual art in the cabinets results in an optical illusion of an installation that goes well beyond the dimension of the space, guiding the visitor through a delicate path of sensations.
