stockholm based design partners henrik kjellberg and jon lindstrom of o4i (office 4 ideas) were set with the task to utilize the solid wood furniture production and inhouse skills of the swedish furniture company de nord. o4i decided to refine the classic stackable wooden chair and make it into a light, modern and competitive product with added functions and comfort.

the ‘silenci’ line of furniture brings together two materials in an unexpected combination, a solid wood frame and a soft polyurethane back. the flexible rubber-like back gives comfort and together with an acoustic sound absorbing panel hidden under the seat, noise is reduced to accommodate public areas where upholstered seating cannot be used such as schools, restaurants and bars. the ‘silenci’ family includes a chair, a barstool and a table with various bases.

currently available in all black, in natural birch or ash wood with a black seat and back. more colors are planned to be released.
