a selection of work from sculptor hans-henning pedersen of bornholm, denmark is currently on exhibition at galerie sofie lachaert in tielrode, belgium. the ‘wood boost’ collection communicates an appreciation of wood either through its use as a medium in the actualization of work or in emulating the qualities of this raw material. pedersen’s series is comprised of bowls of various depths and circumferences, all shaped from freshly-felled tree trunks cut to 3mm thin. the artist draws attention to the elasticity of the material in highlighting the grain and markings through the form of each piece. pedersen’s work was shown as part of the show ‘wood boost’, which also includes works by tyge axel holm, matthew weatherly, flora vagi, MDST and chein-wei chang.
