the sound element in xia is an old metallic lamiré, with the musical note A, used to tune the instruments in philharmonic bands. the sound of this very specific A is triggered by the user when they sit on burel mountain originals’ stool and press down the colored bellow. this bellow shape relates to not only the choreography performed by the user with the act of sitting down but also to its close association with musical instruments as diverse as the concertina or the plastic hammers used in são joão’s traditional festivities in porto.
