showcased at milan design week 2011 inside the triennale di milano for the second consecutive year, was a presentation by taiwanese design brand yii lead by creative director gijs bakker.

looking to translate traditional taiwanese craft techniques into contemporary design objects, the newest pieces of the 2011 collection draw on the theme of ‘street life’ – a new way to express the culture of the east asian country through everyday life.

included in this series is ‘rococo plan’ by rock wang, an interpretation of taiwanese deco style, influenced by the aesthetics of the country’s most popular vehicle, the motorcycle. built in partnership with craftsman cheng-yao chiang, the baroque-styled frame of the design is constructed from parts of SYM wolf 125 motorcycles, while the inner side consists of 140 readymade motorcycle rear view mirrors.
