following his playful deconstruction of the leaning tower of pisa, yongwook seong is back with another stackable furniture series inspired by a famous landmark. this time around, the designer has turned his attention to paris’ eiffel tower, and it turned it into three furniture pieces that can be fully stacked or dismounted.

when it was first completed in 1889, the eiffel tower proved to be a controversial landmark for local parisians. now, more than 100 years later, the iron structure is the most-visited UNESCO world heritage site, attracting tourists from all over the world. in times of COVID-19, when we can’t fly to the french city of lights, yongwook seong hopes to bring the ‘eiffel experience’ into homes across the globe.

similar to the actual tower, ‘eiffel’ is divided into three pieces: a floor lamp, a stool (or small table), and a table. the design offers a space-saving solution as it can be fully stacked as decororation or dismounted and furnished as required. as well as creating this fun furniture piece, the series also explores what it means to be the most-visited heritage site, all the while hoping to inspire positive design opportunities during the pandemic.
