zoybar guitar

zoybar is a strange name for an equally strange design. the zoybar is a musical instrument that is designed to be added to, modified and tweaked to the user’s preference. the instrument is billed as a ‘playable prototype platform’ and aims to gives musicians a way to experiment with new ideas through its modular design. the design is essentially like a lego for musical instruments, the parts can be assembled and reassembled in any configuration allowing the creation of completely new instruments. an online community to share iterations and ideas accompanies the zoybar. the instrument was designed by ziv bar ilan to accommodate flexible productions scales with variety of solutions. the design will launch in january 2009.

  • This concept is mind blowing!
    I’ve been looking to see for a long time a product design that would involve web 2.0 intelligence that would truly affects the end result.
    From looking at their videos this project is a great opportunity for sound effect developers, co-creation has now gone hardware ;-).

    This is no doubt a design that could start a new evolution in music instruments.
