photo: LASC studiothe copenhagen based design firm LASC studio aimed to create an outdoor fireplace that was down to earth and ephemeral at the same time. they arrived at a design with a form that is a computer-generated interpretation of utopian space-age design. the fireplace design utilizes rough craftsmanship in the form of the welded joints and precise manufacturing: the laser cut triangles. designers jonas labbe and johannes schotanus worked with a manufacturer in rotterdam to produce the design which they first developed in paper to work out the complex geometry. while they are still looking for a manufacturer, the final design is definitely not your average back yard barbeque.
