faced with the considerable task of redesigning and renovating an old house that sits on a small vietnamese alleyway, kientruc o architects transformed the forgotten structure into the multi-functional ‘T house.’ the interior combines the public space of a neighborhood restaurant with the privacy of a family home — located on the upper floors. the ‘refreshed’ design will change how the residents perceive and interact with the space around them.

kientruc o’s unconventional design of the home in vietnam’s ho chi minh city deviates from a typical dwelling by bringing a business entity within the walls of the home. ‘our focus when shaping this space is to create an environment that provoke emotional interactions with the architecture,’ describe the architects. ‘it is expressed in a continuous reel of functional relationship between spaces that are stringed together from inside the house to the alley and back. this is a kind of architectural newness that set us apart from our typical design method.’
