designer's own words:

Use:
The Bike is designed to be used as part of an urban bike share scheme. The users can rent a bike at one of the many stations around the city. Once they have reached their destination the bike can be docked at the most convenient station. The user scans their card at the docking stations and the bike is released. The card can be topped up online or at the station.
This scheme aims to reduce inner city traffic and air pollution. It also encourages people to exercise and could introduce a community spirit.

Design:
The bike frame is produced from die cast aluminium. The hollow cast has an internal rib structure to increase strength and rigidity.
Inside is a small rechargeable battery which powers the front and rear LED arrays. The battery is recharged when the bike is docked at a station. The LEDs improve the bikes visibility to drivers, making cycling at night safer.
Intuitive controls make adjusting the saddle height and angle quick and easy. The bike has been designed to be comfortable for all adult users.
The single gear system reduces maintenance. The gears are concealed by the aluminium frame for user safety and also to prevent tampering.
The design makes major components inaccessible to users. Only the mechanics who maintain the bikes have the correct tools to adjust and remove parts.
