Curiosity is an art of asking questions and not being afraid to find the answers on them. Akarusa Project gives an opportunity to discover the essence of the objects that are around us by our own touch and sight. Project was inspired by the japanese history and tradition. The greatest influence on the project had tatami mats, the art of origami and the beauty of calligraphy.

Its shape is simple, as well as the technology used in it. The idea of creating Akarusa would't be possible without the use of fiber optics fabric technology and strain sensors. The project use the pressure created in the folds of the material as the information to light up the exact material area. The source of light is based on LED technology, which is an low energy consuming solution. It allows to hide all energy suppliers from the sight of the users.

The outer material can be black or transparent with an printed on pattern inspired by the Lexus logotype. This small detail makes the object more interesting in touch and when it's not in use. Material can be adjusted to the certain use cases by changing the duration of emitting light even when the pressure is not already existing on the folded surface.

This water resistant interactive material can be used in both vertical and horizontal way, not only during the night, but also in the daylight. It can be a great presentational element that allows the user to creates its own light creations or let to make them by the object covered by it. Additionally, by giving the possibility to see in the real life the most important lines that defines the specific objects, it can be a great tool for designers and artists.

Akarusa Project provides an unforgettable experience, where the user can see the world around in the new and different way. Thanks to that we are able to push boundaries of our imagination to an new levels.
