beauty in sustainability

beauty in sustainability by nina choe from usa

designer's own words:

This is a master plan concept for a public park and educational center that emphasizes beauty in sustainability. It is functional art that brings green awareness and education. There are also earth-friendly attractions (peddle cars, hiking trails, bike trails, zip-lines, and viewing bridges). The public can drop off their recyclable goods and enjoy a tour of the factory, eat at the organic restaurant with edible garden, or purchase green items at the retail store. Listed are descriptions of some of the structures:

- On the side of the recycling center is the word "LOVE" in Hangul that can only be seen when walking up the main path to the nature preserve (materials are shifted at an angle).
- Sculptural solar collectors that are in the shape of traditional Korean fans.
- The central fountain is a relaxing seating area with water sculptures from of the Korean national flower pumped from stored stormwater.
- Dining at the organic restaurant and edible garden.
- Retail that sells green products (clothing, books, gifts, etc.).
- Above the retail is a storm-water harvesting roof that collects water in cisterns below.
