‘Bar &Beyond’

Concept for a Beck’s Outlet:

Two or more Beck’s bar locations can be enjoyed in one bar space. From a real bar in Milano a virtual space eg. Amsterdam can be experienced on an installed interactive Videowall. Using cameras (system: Philips VIDIwall) video images from Amsterdam will be presented in a real time transmission via the internet on to the videowall in Milano and vice versa.

People can see each other, dancing together on different locations at the same time to the same music.
The outlets can function simultaneously as a franchise in many cities internationally, people will literally party for 24 hours.

“ Hey Giovanni, you drive too fast here in Milano, slow down a bit, there is the new Becks bar. Let’s go see which town is connected online tonight. Ooooh, it’s Amsterdam again, do you remember that girl from Amsterdam two weeks ago? She was doing that great dancing and winking at me, maybe I can meet her again.” /

Target group:
‘Bar & Beyond’ is for people who want to experience the different feelings of clubbing all around the globe from the convenience of their hometown. An international feeling and spirit is created by doing something together in a fused space, the space between real and virtual. People who dare to experience the fun of a new media in a new way. Act and react to the body language of people /

Dating chamber:
If people want to get in closer contact with each other, they can use the dating chamber, a computer where they can talk or chat with each other /

Architecture:
The Videowall forms the back wall of the club. The space architecturally appears to continue on, in to the virtual space giving the impression of one room. The luminous green Beck’s bar emphasizes this by seamlessly continuing into the virtual space.
The dancefloor lightens up in the different green tones of the Becks corporate identity.
On the walls there are uplighters, defining the borders of the room. The front of the uplighters are made of the translucent red Becks logo.
The overall lighting ambience is nearly dark, to increase the presence of the videowall. On the upper floor people can relax from dancing, while looking at the videowall, drinking a Becks beer /

Entrance:
The glass entrance allows passers by to see the Videowall and all the action inside. A big green globe-screen indicates, which town is currently connected. (see overview) /

Club and exhibition space:
While not using the space as a club, Becks is able to use the location for exhibitions. The screen can show all kinds of presentations.
