Children's minds are always full of wonders and curiosities, whether it is unwrapping a present, unboxing a new bought toy, or opening the home made lunch box at school. We wanted to recreate the "what's inside the box" scenario and capture that moment of surprise. One pleasant surprise that brings smiles to people is seeing flower buds bloom into beautiful and colorful flowers; observing a flower bud bloom into a full blossom is truly beautiful and remarkable.

Blawesome is a new kind of children's toy that is designed for toddlers and preschoolers, to help develop dexterity and inspire creativity through curiosity. Inspired by Russian Matryoshka dolls, each set consists of 3 plastic dodecahedrons nested by size. Each dodecahedron is split into two halves, and each half has six pentagon shapes that are connected by living hinges. In addition, the edges have small features (embedded magnets, micro-suction, or small locking mechanism) that allow them to snap to each other to create the structure. Each half of the dodecahedron represents a flower, and can be opened up, creating a magical blooming effect. The exterior is white and the inner surfaces are painted in a variety of colors. The colors/ graphics cannot be seen from the outside, making the child always wonder what colors are on the inside of the three layered dodecahedrons.

The pieces can be stacked in any way, imagine a field of colorful flowers, some still in buds and some in full blossom, created by a child being surprised with each bloom. The pieces can be easily snap back together easily for storage.
